Accident on Maran junction: grandson of Loitzker Rebbe seriously injured

Grandson of the Rebbe of Loitsk, 3 years old, was seriously injured in a car accident at the Maran intersection on Bar-Ilan Street corner of Shmuel Hanavi in Jerusalem. With him his 49-year-old grandmother was injured in a medium condition.
Tonight (Saturday night) at about 21:40pm a severe car accident occurred on Shmuel Hanavi Street corner of Bar Ilan in Jerusalem, when a vehicle hit a grandmother who crossed the intersection with her baby grandson's stroller.
According to a police tester, she crossed the intersection not at a crosswalk.
MDA paramedics and Ichud Hatzalah drives gave first aid to the casualties. They were evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital by ambulances, a 49 years old woman in a mild to moderate condition and a three year old child in critical condition.
Initial questioning of the traffic police shows that the vehicle traveled on Shmuel Hanavi street from Yechekel to Bar Ilan Street and hit a woman crossing the street with a baby carriage, not at a crosswalk.
The woman suffered moderate injuries and the 3.5 year old child was seriously injured, Shmuel Hanavi Street from Yechezkel to Bar Ilan is closed to traffic. The driver of the vehicle at fault is with the police and the investigation continues.

Senior medic of MDA Menachem Miller and paramedic of MDA Guy Gonen who treated at the place said: "When we arrived we noticed a big raucous, on the road lay a woman and her grandson of about 3 and a half. The grandmother was dazed with a bleeding head injury and her grandson lay unconscious, we gave them medical treatment including medication, we anesthetized and respirated the and evacuated them to the hospital when the child is in serious and stable condition and the grandmother in fair condition."
Shalom Sananes, volunteer in Ichud Hatzalah said: "When I arrived at the scene I found a child who has lost consciousness from a serious injury by a vehicle, the grandmother of the child who also crossed the road with him was also wounded in the head and her condition was defined medium, along with other volunteers I gave them first aid until the arrival of intensive care ambulances which evacuated the wounded to hospitals. This most probably has to do with the weather - bystanders said that the vehicle tried to stop but slid on the wet road and hit the pedestrians."
