End of quiet in South: firing at Israel
'Red color' siren was activated in settlements in the western Negev at 12:00pm on Friday • Military sources: possibly as a result of light fire • Reporting: Residents in South complain again about underground noises which are heard, that may indicate a re-excavation of tunnels by Hamas

At around 12:00pm on Friday, Red Color system was implemented in communities in the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council. No explosion was heard.
Military sources said that it may be that small arms fire set off the alarm.
Network B reported that residents near the Gaza Strip complain again that they are hearing noises underground, digging and dragging sounds. IDF checked and found nothing.
On Friday last week, a rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip and exploded in an open area in Eshkol Regional Council. On Friday night, the air force attacked for the first time since the end of Solid Rock operation a cement manufacturing plant in Khan Younis, used by Hamas in Gaza for tunnels rehabilitation activities.
On Wednesday morning, an IDF soldier was seriously wounded by a sniper near Kibbutz Nir Oz opposite the southern Gaza Strip. The force returned fire, and Palestinian sources reported heavy exchanges of fire. Hamas' military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced that the head of the observations of the arm was killed in Israeli shelling east of Khan Younis, and two others were injured.
Hamas leader Ismail Radwan blamed Israel, saying that Israel is "playing with fire and bears full responsibility for the repercussions." He added that "the Palestinian people's right is to defend itself".
Terror continues:
Yesterday (Thursday) Palestinians carried out a further transmission of a missile into the sea, as part of the experiments they perform in the recent past.
The Palestinians' attempts to carry out attacks from areas of the Gaza Strip and Israel continue: This morning two Border Policemen were stabbed near Lion's Gate police station. Two policemen were slightly injured – the terrorist attacker fled and subsequent searches were conducted.
Yesterday (Thursday), terrorists threw a Molotov cocktail on Route 55 near the town of El-Natan at an Israeli vehicle; a girl, Ruth (Shapiro) of 11 was seriously injured after being hit directly by a Molotov cocktail. Her father, Avner, was slightly wounded.
Border Police arrested four terrorists on Wednesday, Nablus area residents, who apparently intended to attack - pipe bombs were captured on their bodies. Border Guard officers observing at the Salem checkpoint near Jenin heard an explosion near the checkpoint itself. Four suspects have been identified. The fighters carried out apprehension of a suspect which included remote undressing. During the undressing – the fighters identified several pipe bombs on the bodies of the suspects.
