After many hours in which an armed man barricaded himself in a cafe in Sydney, Australia, with dozens of hostages, Sydney police broke into the Lindette. In the documentation on news channels hostages were seen fleeing out after a loud explosion was heard, and the security and medical forces went in.

The kidnapper was killed as well as two hostages. A number of hostages were injured.

The drama which lasted about 16 hours in the city center of Sydney, Australia, began at around 2:00 am, when a Jihad activist well known to the police took over the cafe on Martin Square and took the occupants as hostage.

Photos taken from inside the cafe showed the kidnapper wearing a bandana on the head with an Arabic inscription. Earlier, he forced the hostages to hang black flags similar to ISIS flags. Reuters reported that the kidnapper is an Iranian refugee named Man Haron Munis, 49, and has a long history of criminal acts.

Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, sent a message to the Australian nation and told of the bomber's motives. "This is the most disturbing event. It is alarming that innocent people were taken hostage by a man who announced he is acting for political reasons", said Abbott. "Police and security forces responded quickly to the event and cooperate to respond to developments on the scene. I want to commend the people of Sydney for their calm response to the events. I received responses and support from a number of world leaders and I thank them for their encouragement they give us on this difficult day," added the Prime Minister of Australia.

After hours, a video was put on the YouTube site depicting one of the hostage women presenting the kidnapper's demands: 1. A flag of ISIS. 2. To inform all the media that this is an attack of the Islamic State on Australia. 3. To talk with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

He contended that he planted three bombs in the area and will make use of them if his demands are not met. In addition it was noted that the kidnapper would release a hostage if he got an ISIS flag, and if he would talk with the Prime Minister of Australia – he will release five.
