Serious charges: attempted to lynch Jewish driver

Central District Attorney's Office filed this morning in Lod District Court indictment against Mohammed Haj Yahya, 21, a resident of Taybeh, in respect of the injury with grave intent, malicious damage to property and disturbance.

According to the indictment, in light of the circumstances of the death of Hir Hamdan in Qana, riots broke out in the city of Taybeh. At 21:20, gathered at the bridge the defendant and others whose identity is unknown, masked. During the riots burned tires near the bridge that led to the blocking road 444. The crowd stopped passing vehicles in order to check the identity of the driver in order to identify which driver's have Jewish nationality.

During the riots, the Respondent approached a journalist who was at the time at the bridge and next to other 6 were masked, and asked him to video them. Immediately below, said respondent to the camera: "People in the Triangle, today in Qana, tomorrow Taibe and Umm al-Fahm, Intifada Intifada, everyone would do intifada in his way. The defendant, who came from his home equipped with two "hives" explosive fireworks, lighting fireworks and threw them at the police car arrived there as part of a confrontation between police forces crowd who came to the bridge.

At the same time, crime victim drove his car on the road, and when he reached the bridge had to stop the car following the riots and subsequent closure of the road. One of the others approached him and began to talk to him in Arabic to find out if the driver in question has a Jewish nationality.

Observing the others that the driver does not respond to them in Arabic, began throwing stones at the car while shouting at the crowd that it was the Jews, and so when the driver is still sitting in the car and defends himself from the angry crowd from stones, shattered windshields.
At this point, he saw a man who was at that time on the road, the angry mob attacks the victim and in response, went to the car while pushing and keeping the crowd out of the car. Now, the accused went to the car, clutching the second hive of fireworks, lit and placed inside the vehicle. The fireworks began to explode, and the vehicle caught fire, while the victim was inside.

Noticing that the vehicle is on fire, he approached the car together with others whose identity is unknown, and while violence against crime victim continues, rescued him from the vehicle, defended him with his body from the crowd, put him in his car standing nearby, and fled the scene. As a result of these actions, the victim was injured and the vehicle burned to the ground.

Case was investigated by the Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency.
