Tonight (Thursday), two Viznitzer Chassidim were arrested after not reporting to IDF recruitment bases.
Tonight at midnight, there was a knock on the door of YB, an avrech in the city of Afula, but residents of the house apparently did not hear the knocks and did not open.
The comers were military police detectives, in civilian clothes, and after the family did not respond they decided to wait outside his home.
The avrech, who is considered a deserter for a year and a half, knew nothing of the police lying in wait for him, and returned home. He saw the policemen in civilian clothes, did not suspect them and wanted to know what they wanted.
According to his associates, the MPs presented a certificate and demanded that he showed his identification. After identifying him, they handcuffed him, according to family members they did not let him go home to say goodbye to his wife and four children.
When the avrech was placed into the military police vehicle, he noticed a group of young men from Nachalas Halevi'im Yeshiva in front of his house, and called out to them that the military police arrested him.
This morning, the Viznitzer Rebbe spoke with activists who are working on the issue. The acting committee of Viznitz is convening at this time to discuss how to deal with the case and whether to call for demonstrations.
So too, a yeshiva student was arrested - a Viznitz-center bochur, resident of Bnei Brak, the son of Rabbi Aryeh Hager Director of Public Inquiries in Bnei Brak municipality, and a nephew of the Rebbe of Antania.
According to his friends, he reported at the Tel Hashomer recruit center, in order to try to resolve his status as a yeshiva student, since he planned to travel abroad next week for a wedding. Since he was considered a deserter for a year and a half, he was arrested and brought to a military court in Jaffa, a decision will given be tomorrow.
Will demonstrations break out because of the arrests? Time will tell.
