In a forceful speech delivered today (Wednesday) in the Knesset, MK Yaakov Asher said: "Recently the country's citizens and the world saw an inability to govern which was never before in the country. Within the government they sat inexperienced with ego and arrogance that only destroyed and damaged. In the Ministry of Finance sat a man who does not understand anything in economics, he made errors of economic and political novice, and we all pay for these mistakes. Errors in numbers, lack of knowledge about costs. A strange insistence on VAT 0 law, despite the opposition by all the experts that this plan will lead to a sharp increase in house prices in its wake.
"Two weeks ago when Lapid was asked in the Finance Committee on the worrying growth figures, he said that everything is fine and credit companies worldwide are backing us. Four days later the global credit company Peach published a worrisome credit outlook for the Israeli economy."
And here, MK Yaakov Asher turned to Deputy Chairman of the Knesset from Yesh Atid, Ruth Calderon who headed the hearing and said: "I am very curious to know what would the commentator Yair Lapid say if he was talking about the finance minister of today. I will quote a sentence he said before the elections: 'anywhere in the world, politicians who have failed, are considered failures and go home without getting a second chance. You're right. Practice what you preach."
"But the worst," said MK Yaakov Asher, "If you noticed, in the last three months Lapid stopped speaking against the haredim, he counted on them probably. But on the day the government dismantled and his defunct performances stand the test, he says 'haredim'. For every failure he is required to explain he says the magic word haredim. When asked about the failure of VAT 0, he says 'haredim'. He thinks that the public is really stupid.
"And another quote from analyst Yair Lapid: "We're stuck with politicians who always use the same set of reused five sentences." You, Yair Lapid, do not use even five sentences. You keep coming back to just one sentence, 'the haredim are guilty'. But the horror film that you want to bring on the State of Israel will not succeed the second time."
"So as you said," MK Asher concluded, "a failed politician, is considered a failure and has to go home. Go home to Channel 2, where you can lash out and incite as much as you like, and will not have to be tested for performances".
