After a few years of not visiting New York - Av Beis Din of the Eida Hareidis, Hagaon R' Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss arrived for a visit in town for a family event. Upon his arrival last night (Sunday) a huge reception was held, attended by thousands of Talmud Torah children and tens of thousands of New York haredi residents.
In honor of his arrival, a "preparatory committee" was set up with representatives from all the different Hassidic circles, the committee worked hard to find a suitable place for the reception, and last week it was decided to hold the event on Taylor street in Williamsburg, and across the government park allocated for the Talmud Torah children.
The Av Beis Din arrived in the afternoon to visit the home of the Satmar Rebbe, and from there went to Taylor street where he was greeted by thousands of children from all over New York in their Shabbos clothes and flags of honor in their hands, the Av Beis Din went onto a special stage and showered his blessings on the children.
After the children's reception event, the main reception began, the Av Beis Din sat on the five-story-high stage with Rebbes and Rabbis of New York, and tens of thousands filled the street.
As chairman of the event was Rabbi Chaim Aharon Friedman, Rosh Yeshiva of Kashoi. As representative of the Rabbis Association of USA and Canada, Harav Hatzadik Av Beis Din of Sedreheli and member of the Badatz Rabbinical Association, spoke.
The main speak was given by the Satmar Rebbe, who welcomed the Av Beis Din and said, "We see in our times that the situation is deteriorating by the day, it's a situation that Haredi Jews make all kinds of compromises in religious matters with the government, and the government knows this and that's why they make harsh decrees and nobody protests against them. Also, heretical ideas of 'kochi ve'otzem yadi' have broken into our camp, it causes hatred of Israel and startling provocation against the nations".
"We never thought the day would come that the government would enact a law to recruit the yeshiva students, that the government would intervene in Haredi education programs. We never thought the day would come that the government will require the overseas yeshiva students to visit the army compound, and other places of impurity NEA. We did not think holy sites such as the Rashbi's tomb would be under the government. And all this why? Because they know that every man who fears the word of G-d will fight for his soul against these schemes. They could never uproot the feeling to fight against the digging of graves, nor was it inconceivable to go up to Temple Mount, the place of Beis Hamikdosh, in impurity. But all that passes in silence on the part of the haredi parties who are bribed by them, and make all kinds of compromises and make fun of all the struggles of the holy matters of Judaism."
"Blessed is Hashem that gave the world to guards and has not disabled us a Saviour", the Rebbe called excitedly, "and we have the Av Beis Din is the leader of the holy community, who continues the city guards the tzadikim and kedoshim, of blessed memory. It is clear to us that the leadership of the Av Beis Din and power of the Eida Hareidis helps those who do not stand up to this trial that it does not affect them to go entirely after the decrees of uprooting of religion. "
The Rebbe continued his speech in pain and mentioned the terrible tragedies in the Holy Land. "Outside the sword kills and in rooms there is horror", but now when even in rooms sword kill NEA – we need to pray even more for our brethren in Eretz Yisroel that they be protected from harm".
The Rebbe concluded his words with a special blessing, "May Hashem help and the Av Beis Din, leader of the Eida will endure his kingdom in good and steadfast health, and will stand guard to protect the continuation of Yisroel."
Afterwards, the words of HAgaon Hatzadik Rabbi Yaakov Meir Shechter from Israel were heard live, who spoke in praise of the Av Beis Din. In addition, congratulatory letters were read by Hgrm"d Soloveitchik of Brisk for the event and greetings by Rebbe of Toldos Avraham Yitzhak who was unable to participate due to his illness.
The words of representatives of communities in Jerusalem were said by the Rebbe of Toldos Aharon who is currently visiting New York, who explained how such an event strengthens the Eida Hareidis, led by the Av Beis Din who heads it, and all are under his command.
The word of the "Torah world" was brought by Rabbi Asher Kalmanovitz, head of the Mir Yeshiva in New York. In particular he mentioned the draft decree which the Av Beis Din heads the campaign."
The Rebbe of Vienne was honorary speaker, who spoke much about the actions of the Av Beis Din for faithful Jewry in the Holy Land, and mentioned the importance of participating in the reception of such a tzaddik.
Towards the end of the event, the Av Beis Din himself spoke, he thanked all led by the Satmar Rebbe who supports Haredi Judaism in Eretz Yisroel by sending large amounts of money by the Shekel Hatahor enterprise. The Av Beis Din encouraged the public to continue operations and benefactors to continue sending money to institutions who learn Torah only, such as the Satmar Rebbe does. "We see that the power of the elder the Satmar Rebbe continues even stronger, and our brethren abroad have a varemkeit to add assistance to Torah only institutions," he said. In addition the Av Beis Din asked the public to pray for the residents of the Holy Land in view of the difficult situation they are in now, and recalled the terrible attack which happened in the shull in Har Nof.
Later, dances were held that lasted a long time.
