Sergeant Major Zidane Seif, traffic cop who risked his life to save lives and was killed in a synagogue in Jerusalem, was brought today to rest in the cemetery of Jatt Yanuh. Seif, 30 is survived by his wife, baby, parents and five brothers.
Seif joined the Israel Police in April 2011 and served as a scout in the Jerusalem District. After his death, he was promoted to Sergeant Major.
Thousands attend his funeral. The Seif family, President Reuven Rivlin, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch Inspector General Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino, Druze notables, officers, commanders, soldiers and policemen took part in the funeral.
A group of residents of Har Nof came and attended the funeral. Another group of young ultra-Orthodox Haredim arrived. "He defended his body on fellow worshipers, let's show him gratitude and sanctifying God's name," they said.
Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Rubin turned to the family of Sergeant Major Zidane and said: "We have come to be with you and cry with you.
Zidane showed great courage, stood as a bulwark with his body and saved many lives. His dedication and determination will be a symbol for the Druze community and the Jewish people.
MK Eli Yishai eulogized Seif: "Zidane you sacrificed yourself proof of daring heroism and courage, and with force you prevented further killing and thus saved lives.
