El Al turned this evening (Monday), to the Labor Court to order the representatives of the employees in the company to stop the sanctions taken by the company's pilots.
Due to non-availability of air crew members, and lack of responsiveness on their part to perform flights, the company was forced to delay 3 flights tonight until tomorrow morning: flight 075 to Hong Kong, flight 027 to Newark and Flight 001 to New York.
In an urgent appeal to the Court, El Al announced that three flights of the company which were supposed to take off tonight are not manned by pilots due to non-availability of pilots and noncompliance on their part to fly were therefore canceled.
El Al sent messages, phone calls and even taxis with telegrams to locate available pilots but without success.
The lack of response seems as organized and illegal sanctions, without a legally declared labor dispute.
Recently, representatives of the pilots expressed at the employees representations that the company will be financially vulnerable if it did not respond to any demands on the restriction of pilots over 65 to carry out flights, as recently established by the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO and adopted by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Therefore, El Al was left without a choice but to turn to the Labor Court this evening, to stop the illegal sanctions, and to prevent damage to the company and its passengers. The company's management is making efforts to find a suitable solution to the problem's end.
The pilots' committee for its part, announced that this is not a strike but scarcity of available pilots.
