About a hundred Jerusalem residents attended a "Kabbalas Shabbos' prayer on Bezalel Street on Friday night in the city, in protest of a restaurant open on Shabbos.

Chazan for Kabbalas Shabbos Carlebach style was Cantor Aharon Razael. Last week his brother Yonathan Razael was chazan.

Several secular residents came to protest against the prayer, but those present brought them into the dance circles.

The prayer was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Yossi Deitch and city council members Yitzchak Pindrus and Arye King.

This is the second in a series of prayers conducted by the United Torah Judaism faction in Jerusalem, following the opening of a number of centers of chilul Shabbos in stores in the city.

The Eida Haredis also demonstrated on Bar-Ilan Street, and the Av Beis Din spoke for several minutes about the sanctity of Shabbos, and how to keep the Shabbos "including the politzei (police) and hargirung (state) if they would observe Shabbos for two weeks, the Mashiach would come."

Later demonstrators split into several minyanim, depending on the various Hasidic circles who participated.

Another demonstration was held on Hanevi'im Street, which was attended by some of Breslov, Toldos Aharon and Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok. There were several confrontations recorded between youngsters and the police.

Overall, there were no exceptional events.
