"Troubles are increasing - towards the coming of mashiach"

"Torah world suffers persecution, the closer to the coming of Mashiach, the more troubles increase, the rescue will be with the zchus of observance of Shabbos," said Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman at the end of the conference of Va'ad Hayeshivos.

Upon conclusion of the historic conference of Va'ad Hayeshivos this evening, R' Aharon Leib talked with Hagaon R' Gershon Edelstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevez, and Hagaon R' Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi, Rosh Yeshiva of Ateres Yisrael.

R' Aharon Leib Steinman said: "As we near the days of the mashiach, the harder it becomes."

R' Aharon Leib cited zmiros Shabbos: "Me'ein olam haba yom Shabbos menucha, kol hamisangim ba yizku lerov simcha, mechevlei m ashiach yutzalu lirvacha, peduseinu tatzmiach venas yagon va'anacha" and explained that in the merit of Shabbos one can avoid the pangs of Mashiach. R' Gershon added: "One can work the entire week in honor of Shabbos." One of those present said that a talmid chochom is also like Shabbos, and R' Aharon Leib agreed with that: "Indeed, respecting talmidei chachamim is also like honoring Shabbos."

The conference of Va'ad Hayeshivos was convened in the afternoon (Sunday) at the home of R' Aharon Leib on 5 Hazon Ish Street in Bnei Brak, after a year in which there were no meetings of the Committee.

Behadrey Jaredim learned that the meeting approved the appointments of Hgr"d Landa, Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka, Hagr"a Finkel, Rosh Yeshiva of Mir Brachfeld, Hgrm"m Farbstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Hevron, Hagr"b Soloveitchik Rosh Yeshiva of Toras Ze'ev, and two other representatives from Hasidic yeshivas - son of the Rebbe of Slonim Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Borozovsky Rosh Yeshiva of Slonim, and son of the Rebbe of Tzanz Hgrim"d Halberstam, Rosh Yeshiva of Tzanz.

The decisions of the committee said that the rabbis "support the yeshiva students and call on benefactors to help the Torah world."

Among the comers, was also Hagan R' Shmuel Auerbach who came to attend the meeting, as well as President of the Council of Torah Sages of Shas Hagaon R' Shalom Cohen.

Hagaon R' Shalom Cohen spoke at the conference and said: "There is a spiritual disaster that they want to uproot the Torah out there, but there are also inside the home, and that is the improper devices. Even with the kosher phones, there are Roshei Yeshiva who go out in the middle of limud to answer the phone, how can one learn and stop, they make the Torah into tatters, why at all does one need a phone at the time of learning, people always grew without it."

In conclusion, R' Aharon Leib turned to R' Shalom before leaving and asked him to bless bless him with the brocha of a Cohen Gadol. "At the time of the Chofetz Chaim, he was the Cohen Gadol of the generation", Aharon Leib said, adding that "in this generation, his honor is the Cohen Gadol.
