Chief Rabbis of Jerusalem, Hagaon Rabbi Aryeh Stern and Hagaon Moshe Shlomo Amar shlita, met today (Wednesday) for a first working meeting. The two agreed upon cooperation between them, in which consultations will be held between the two in all areas of the religious council Jerusalem: kashrus, marriage, mikvehs, eiruvin, and rabbinates in the neighborhoods and communities.
The meeting of rabbis of Jerusalem opened with a long Torah discourse on a number of halachic issues that are at stake, including kashrus, shemitah and mikvehs.
The two rabbis, in turn, raised the need for close and fruitful cooperation in all the issues that are dealt with by the Jerusalem Religious Council, and agreed that even if there is an actual division of work between the two, they are not going to stand alone at the head of the departments, but serve as "zuga derabanan" (rabbinical couple).
