Hagaon Rabbi Shimon Elituv, Rabbi of Mevasseret Tzion and a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, who was appointed six weeks ago as temporal Rabbi of Jerusalem, welcomes tonight (Tuesday), the incoming guard.

In a conversation with Behadrey Haredim Rabbi Elituv says: "I welcome the elected rabbis excitedly. These results are a sign from heaven that the rabbis elected should work together and give a sense of belonging to every Jew of the residents of Jerusalem, who are part of the public required to receive religious services and strengthening of Jewish identity."

Rabbi Elituv adds: "There is no more proper and suitable candidate to serve as Hagaon R' S. M. Amar as chief rabbi of the city which has to be pleasant and export Judaism to all. I sure am Rabbi Aryeh Stern, whom I have known for forty years from the Qatamon suburb, will work in collaboration with the Rishon Letzion to uphold the walls of the city's kashrus and halacha, and together they will find rails to the hearts of city dwellers and between them and their Maker."

He further praised Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, saying, "Certainly Hagaon R' Ovadia Yosef zt"l has satisfaction from the unity in the movement".
