Riots in Geula: blocked traffic tonight (Monday) in downtown Jerusalem after the Sikriks blocked the way of a number of buses and punctured their tires.

About 50 extremists demonstrated in central Jerusalem on Yexchezkel Street against billboards on buses by Women of the Wall, which showed pictures of women who read the Bible. They blocked the road, threw stones and caused harm.

Several drivers tried to continue driving, but found it difficult to continue after their tires were punctured.

Munir, Egged driver Talpiot branch line 74 told Behadrey Haredim: "A group of protesters blocked me and other drivers, sprayed bus spray and smashed the windows. I have no idea why they do it, they delay the passengers without any justification. Worse moreover, they are stopping traffic in the area which is way too slow".

One of the passengers who was on the number one bus told Behadrey Haredim: "I did not manage to make the pilgrimage during the festival of Sukkot, now I've tried but these extremists also prevented me now to reach the Western Wall".

Police force called to the scene rescued the bus. One protester was arrested and taken for interrogation.

Organization of Women of the Wall commented that "It is sad to see how the Haredim take the law into their own hands in the name of Judaism and resort to violence against women. These are distorted fanatics who desecrate anything that is inconsistent with their worldview. We regret the lack of responsible and sane orthodox leadership, which condemns acts of bullying.
