The snowstorm in the Himalayas in Nepal
Professor Rifkind (Nepal): "The wounded suffer mostly from frostbite and other injuries, one of the wounded suffers from fractures. We shall continue treatment with teams of skin plastic surgery, orthopedics and X-ray who have been prepared for the condition of the wounded. We expect a long period of treatment during which it will be decided on the state of damaged organs."

Senior paramedic and director of special projects at MDA, Asi Dvilansky: "Beyond gathering and sorting all the belongings of the injured, a great deal of time was devoted to talks with the Israelis, most of them young people after the army. Each casualty has an amazing survival story, and many casualties are suffering from trauma after they were trapped in the storm and found themselves tied with their destinies. They had a jarring experience which even movies can not describe. The wounded are now on the plane to take them to Israel, when in total there are seven injured, suffering from the cold, to varying degrees, of which, one wounded in the back and one also injured in her eyes. The flight is joined by a medical team from Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem."

Aboard the flight is also a two weeks old baby born with a heart defect and in need of immediate catheterization.

At the request of the Foreign Ministry, the IDF sent a small assistance delegation last night to Nepal. The delegation consists of three people, including two physicians from the medical corps. The delegation helped the local hospital in treating the wounded. MDA also extended the support team with 2 paramedics in addition to the doctor and paramedic in Nepal. The paramedics brought with them medical supplies to treat frostbite.

Nadav Shoham's coffin is expected to arrive this evening (Saturday night), the others are expected to arrive in Israel early this week.

Today there was a helicopter evacuation from Meneng to the zone that has the possibility of vehicular travel. Involved are Israelis who are not in a life-threatening condition but due to trauma are unable to continue on foot. At the same time, the search for the missing woman continue, when in the Foreign Ministry's command post there is still a list, as of this morning, of 58 with whom contact was lost.
