Web site of the American Prison Service, which reports to the Ministry of Justice, allows "pinpointing prisoners" whom are in one of the federal prison or released since 1982, entering the name of the inmate, age and gender gets the serial number, the current location of his detention facility and the date of release.
According to the Prison Service forecast, Pollard, Serial Number 09185-016, was supposed to be released on November 21, 2015 - exactly 30 years after his arrest. Recently, the website changed the release date, and in place of the date of November 21, 2015, was written the word "life". In contrast to the Israeli practice, usually pacemaker imprisonment for 24 years which can be reduced one-third, American Prisoners of the world do not know if and when he will be released. When the judge sentenced Pollard to life imprisonment in 1986, he recommended that penalty will not be shortened.
Meeting of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with President Obama last week, raised also the release of Jonathan Pollard, after the meeting, the Prime Minister told reporters, "I raised the issue of Pollard during conversation with President Barack Obama and passed a simple message. I told the president that we are before Yom Kippur - a time when we are reciting Selichot and asking forgiveness. I pointed out to the President that I hope that this foundation will be to promote the release of Pollard.
Last June, after a meeting with his American counterpart, said former President Shimon Peres that Obama promised to pass the Department of Justice to examine the "new proposal" regarding the release of Pollard, but did not elaborate. In previously played several times the possibility of the release of the spy as part of a comprehensive plan to extend the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, but it did not work out.
Pollard was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of spying for Israel and imprisoned in 1985. The expected release date was supposed to be on November 21, 2015, exactly 30 years after the beginning of his imprisonment. It now appears that this date is also subject to negotiation.
Esther Pollard, wife of Jonathan, responded: "I and Jonathan knew that it was all those years another ploy of deception on the part of the American Administration who hoped to lull the Israelis to hope they are going to release Pollard, now we see their true face.
