Medal ceremony to naval commando squadron 13, was held today (Monday), in Atlit naval commando base.

The ceremony was attended by Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benjamin (Benny) Gantz, Navy Commander, Major General Ram Rothberg, members of the General Staff, and the commanders of the naval commando fighters.

Medal was awarded following a naval commando fighters sequence covert operational activities deep in enemy territory, which was met with great success. "What characterizes the commando unit is operational initiative," said Lt. Gen. Gantz. "Commando unit does not shy away from any task, looking for how to fit in, looking for how to influence, how to get involved."

13 naval fighters carried out secret and open covert operations. "Unit does not suddenly receive the medal", said the Chief of Staff. "Unit receives a medal because it has roots, has foundations, heritage has the infrastructure front, then grows heritage, and with it is brewing."

According to the Navy commander, medal can be a sign of appreciation for making dozens of campaign operations between the wars. "Groundbreaking deals and unique, strenuous activity performed over a short period of time in different locations, while using a number of parallel operations," Navy Commander elaborated. "Medal" indicates planning capabilities, combat skills and abilities of each individual and a member of the commando unit.
