Middle of the night arrests at Ponovicz • Watch

As promised by police arrests at the yeshiva continue: Tonight at 2:30 or so, police detectives arrived at the Ponovicz yeshiva, with reinforcements, to make arrests - following the damage caused by breaking out of the library last week.

Chief of Dan, Commander Simon Lavie, says in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim this morning, in light of the arrests, that they will do anything to stop the violence in the Yeshiva. "Anyone who violates the law - would be arrested. Offenses of damage, vandalism, assaults, thefts and attempted arson. We do not allow any situation of violence." Lavie adds that "today or tomorrow, more arrests will be made, even from the other faction."

For the first time, police made an arrest of one of the directors of the yeshiva, which was not done in the past. He was arrested in Jerusalem. Detainee, one of the 'terrorists', was taken to the police station along with two others, where they are being questioned.

Another detainee is a young man who was arrested a week ago, and as we reported is released under restrictive conditions, restraining order from the yeshiva, but because he violated the condition, he was arrested again last night.

Police planned to arrest a greater number of students related to causing damage, and consequently also attended the yeshiva with the police van transporting prisoners. Since some of them were not found on the yeshiva, forces left with only three detainees.

As happened in the previous arrest, even here three detainees are expected to be questioned and released at the end of their investigation. Besides detained for violating the terms of a restraining order, which may be brought before a judge, and the police may require the worsening conditions of his removal from the city of Bnei Brak.
