Hundreds of haredi Jews protested tonight (Wednesday) against the draft law, in Mea Shearim, Jerusalem.

Police forces including riot police and cavalry were called and dispersed the rioters, who concentrated in Shomrei Emunim Street, using stun grenades and water cannons. Among others, water was sprayed into the homes from which objects were thrown.

"Police threw within a few minutes three grenades," said one of the protesters to Behadrey Haredim, "protesters briefly dispersed and came back to protest, occasionally they came out on Shivtei Yisrael Street."

Earlier in the evening, a demonstration was held on Yechezkel Street corner Shmuel Hanavi, and from there the demonstration moved to its current location, on Shomrei Emunim – Shivtei Yisrael Street.

During the demonstration, protesters sat down on the light rail tracks, and delayed traffic for several minutes.

In recent days, almost every evening demonstrations are held. Protesters were arrested too, but they were released after a few hours.
