Passengers accuse: El Al distributed pork to passengers
Passengers of Flight 245 from Munich last night, had to wait for long hours at the terminal and later at the hotel, due to a failure of the navigation system • According to the passengers, they were offered to eat ham sandwiches and the attitude was unbearably disrespectful • ELAL: "food items and drinks were offered by local officials from the selection at the terminal. El Al Flight 245 from Munich did not take off time at 22:00 last night (Thursday). The reason was given to passengers much later when they were told that the navigation system is malfunctioning.
Passengers spoke to Nissim Keenan from Reshet B, and told him about the great suffering, lack of attention and contempt. According to them, they remained hours without food and lodging. Only later were they driven to the hotel by bus which made rounds to the hotel.
Then they were given sandwiches with ham, and up until lunch it was not clear when they will return to Israel. Religious passengers were angry upon receiving non Kosher food as well as that they do not know if they will be able to return home without violating the Sabbath.
El Al said in response: "Flight 254 was supposed to take off from Munich to Tel Aviv aboard approximately 113 passengers had been delayed at the airport in Munich due to a fault in the plane. Domestic staff tried to fix the problem in order to get the flight out on time. Unfortunately it was not possible to fix the problem and the passengers were transferred to the hotel."
El Al stressed "terminal used by El Al in Munich is the terminal very far from the largest international terminal, therefore local factors at the airport provided food and drink to passengers. We are pleased to announce that during the night the problem has been fixed and the airplane will land in Israel before Shabbat."
