A store in Istanbul, Turkey placed a sign forbidding "Jewish dogs" to enter it. The Turkish Jewish site "Shalom" published the photograph of the sign, which shows a tank with settlers dancing in front of it.
The photo was sent to the site over the weekend, after it was placed in a mobile phone store in the Fatiah suburb.
In recent years, there is an increased anti-Israeli atmosphere and anti-Semitic sentiment in Turkey. During the 'Solid Rock' operation a severe escalation of the situation occurred, when Rejep Tayip Erduan - who was prime minister and now president - compared Israel's actions to those of the Nazis.
Erduan met last week with President Obama, after a long period of separation. The two met on the sidelines of NATO conference in Brussels, and the White House announced that Erduan pledged to take action against the rampant anti-Semitism in Turkey.
Earlier this year, the Parliament in Ankara passed an amendment against incitement and hate crimes defined as a criminal offense. According to a report by the newspaper "Zaman", any who prohibits a person selling goods or refuses to serve because of one's religion, language, race, nationality, or political opinion, may be sent to jail for a period of one to three years. Last month, a Jewish Turkish couple were murdered in their Istanbul apartment. Jacques Krako and his wife, Georgia, were found dead at home with their bodies showing multiple stab marks. The two, who lived in the upscale neighborhood of Ortakoi, were of the most famous textile manufacturers in Turkey for many years. A couple from Uzbekistan who took care of them, aged 26 and 28, were arrested after a short manhunt for murder. According to them, they killed them because they deducted money from their salary for accidentally breaking a few things at home.
