Police chase in Johannesburg after Rabbi Berland

South African police tried to arrest the leader of the Shuvu Banim community Rabbi Eliezer Berland, while conducting a chuppa to one of his followers in Johannesburg • attempt to arrest failed, Rabbi smuggled away and was chased • Student: "Rabbi is now in a safe place •"warrant arrest issued against rabbi" • International efforts continue to allow the great trip to Uman, Ukraine for Rosh Hashana

Drama again in Johannesburg: Rabbi Eliezer Berland, community leader of Shuvu Banim saved again tonight (Monday), during an attempt to arrest him during the wedding of one of his students.

Rabbi Berland held a chuppa for one of his students. During the event police force took over the place in order to arrest him. But again his disciples were able to smuggle the rabbi out.

This is the second time within one month the South African police tried to stop the rabbi, after apparently issued an international arrest warrant against him.

Johannesburg chase after Rabbi is still under way, but the disciples reported, Rabbi is safe.

Several followers told behadrey haredim that the wedding ended with a police raid and the assessments are police were waiting in the area and were observing the area to stop the Rabbi".

Meanwhile efforts are being made to facilitate the flight of Rabbi Berland to Uman for Rosh Hashana, Ukraine, after last year it was his first time not to come to Uman.
