Lev Tahor cult members, were expelled from the village of San Juan La Laguna in Guatemala, after the people of the village claimed their behavior "was not normal".
On Friday, the San Juan Guatemala village council decided to expel all members of the cult, two hundred thirty people, half of them children.
Decision was preceded by a warning village council sent to the cult which announced that the members of Lev Tahor must leave the village by Friday. If not leave voluntarily, they will be expelled by force.
Lev Tahor cult headed by Shlomo Halbernetz, arrived from Canada a few months ago, at the small village in Guatemala, by order of government in Canada to remove the children from their parents' authority.
Uriel Goldman one of the community leaders in Guatemala said that most locals were friendly towards them except politically motivated aggressive minority who decided to expel us.
"I do not understand why they do not want us here," he said, "We do not do anything bad to anyone here." He added: "they threatened us if we did not leave the village the council will disconnect the electricity and water and they will use force against us if we did not leave voluntarily."
Miguel Vasquez, one of the elders of the village council said the decision to expel Lev Tahor from the village fell, after the last few weeks the village council received complaints of misconduct towards tourists and locals. Shopkeepers claimed that some of the products purchased by Lev Tahor were not paid for fully, but the amount they wish. Tourists argued they were attacked by members of the cult while taking photographs in the village. "
