Over the last hour a body was found near the intersection of Ein Kerem, Jerusalem. The body was identified by the volunteers as the body of the late Aharon Sofer z"l, missing since last Friday. Searches subsequently discontinued.
Head of Operations in ZAKA Chaim Weingarten said Sofer died after he was probably dehydrated by a walk of three and a half hours under intense heat.
The searches were joined by many years yeshiva students in the last few days, an operations room was located in Mount Herzl and Beit Zayit, and ZAKA volunteers and rescue organizations oversaw the effort.
