Six years after the murderous terrorist attack in Mumbai, India, during which the local Chabad house was also attacked, and six people were murdered, including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka Hy"d, Chabad emissaries in Mumbai, along with other guests who were there – next Tuesday, Rosh Chodesh Elul, an inauguration ceremony will be held for a new Chabad House to be built there and run by the shluchim to the city for the past year, Rabbi Israel and his wife Chaya Kozlowski.
The chanukas habayis for the house, built with the generous support of benefactor R' Yekutiel Yehuda (George) Rohr, will be held along with Chabad emissaries in Asia conference to be held at the newly renovated Chabad house in India, with the participation of Rabbi Moshe Yehudah Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Center for Education, the body responsible for approximately 4,000 worldwide Chabad houses, the benefactor R' Yekutiel Yehuda (George) Rohr, along with the families of the deceased Hy"d, Chabad emissaries in Asia, guests and delegates from around the world and local dignitaries.
"I promised then that the activity of family Holtzberg who were murdered will not stop; we promised to rebuild their Chabad Center, so that the light which shone from their souls will continue to shine around the world," says Rabbi Kotlarsky in excitement. "It was not easy to keep the promise. The reconstruction of the Mumbai Chabad center was long and challenging, emotionally charged, with complicated bureaucracy. Thank G-d, we are at the end of the work," he adds.
The new Chabad House was built in Neriman House, exactly where it was in the Chabad House destroyed of the Holtzberg family. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were invested in the construction, including renovation and protection of the five-story building, with the generous contribution of R' Yekutiel Yehuda (George) Rohr.
As stated, the housewarming will begin with Chabad conference in Asia which starts on Monday eve of Rosh Chodesh Elul, conducted by Rabbi Israel Kozlowski local Chabad emissary.
The Chanukas Habayis event and the opening of the Chabad House will be held on Tuesday Rosh Chodesh Elul with a gala dinner and salute to emissaries of the Holtzberg family, along with the new shluchim family Kozlavsky and other shluchim in Asia. Among the local Jewish community as well as among business people and travelers there is great excitement towards the event during which the Chabad House will be opened again, spacious and luxurious, as an active and vibrant Jewish center to re-enliven the local Jewish activities.
