Arrest of one of the suspects in attacking an army reservist in Beit Shemesh yesterday, was extended today (Wednesday) until Friday. An additional attacker, whose name is known to the police, will be arrested later.

This morning the suspect was brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court. A police representative told the hearing that the suspect, Aaron Davidowitz, suggesting that indeed he was present, saw what had happened, but had not taking part in the attack.

But allegedly, he called over: "Nazi murderers get out of here, you're not one of us, and you're not Jewish."

Lawyer attorney Rubinstein, asked the court to release him unconditionally, "since there is no basis the suspect committed the offenses alleged against him." Beyond that he said that the suspect actually prayed in the synagogue, called out to the attackers not to raise their hands and then walked away. He added that the suspect was silent during interrogation.

Magistrate's Court in Jerusalem, Alexander Ron, decided to extend the 72-hour detention on the basis of suspicion along with others who attacked an army officer and damaging his car.

"Given that event of the type specified indeed occurred, no doubt, especially under the circumstances, that the act is repugnant," the judge said, though he added that the court is required to distinguish between the event and the evidentiary basis and needs investigation.

The lawyer asked to delay the implementation of the decision to continue detention, and the judge agreed to that. Police filed an application to the District Court to reject the appeal filed by the lawyer and the judge agreed to that, so that the suspect will remain in custody until Friday.
