After significant differences detected between Yesh Atid and Habayit Hayehudi and after the Orthodox parties and the Avodah faction fought with all their might against the 0 percent tax law, the law does not pass the hurdle of the Finance Committee before the summer session ends and is postponed until after the start of the next session.
The differences between Yesh Atid and Habyit Hayehudi arose around a number of fundamental questions in law and particularly the question of discrimination against the ultra-Orthodox sector which is not included in the benefit apartments which amount over 950 thousand.
Orthodox factions demanded to confirm proposal of MK Asher to benefit to residential applications over this amount in that apartment buyers will benefit amount even if the apartment is more expensive. Yesh Atid refused to agree to this demand and Haredi MKs announced that they will leave the thousands of objections filed against the law intact and prevented the bill rising to the current session. Besides this disagreements arose on information and the manufacturer on the question of applying the benefit for buyers on purchasing groups.
Yesh Atid was quick to blame the religious faction and the opposition they say "have joined together to prevent young couples to realize the benefit to buy an apartment." And the Orthodox parties were quick to gloat about winning the current round before Yesh Atid Chairman that he could not advance the law which discriminates against the ultra-Orthodox public.
At a press conference this morning (Wednesday) Finance Minister Yair Lapid along with senior ministry officials and Deputy Mickey Levy referred to the failure and blamed the Haredim and the Avodah Party. "They made a political exercise and tried to avoid providing benefits to IDF veterans," Lapid said, adding that he is still determined to pass the law at the beginning of the winter session. "It means that it will be rejected for a month and a half that most of it is holidays."
These things addressed MK Yaakov Asher, and said: "It is unfortunate to see that the Minister of Finance utilizes urgent discussions of compensation for the south, in order to get press coverage for political pseudo on VAT law.
"I suggest to the Minister of Finance to learn a lesson from its failures in handling economic issues, and start giving Prime Minister and Minister of Defense 'security considerations' tips for elimination of Muhammad Daaf and Haniya, it is important to mention that Lapid's security experience as a fighter in the army (in a newspaper), identify the economic field experience this arrogant man could use, a little modesty."
Member of the Finance Committee, MK Yaakov Litzmann struggling against the law at the committee said: "We won the bullying government, headed by Lapid and Slomiansky. We proved several uncompromising struggle and responsibilities of the opposition along the way. "
MK Moshe Gafni also fought against the law committee: "This law is a dangerous precedent that could drag followed by other laws to discriminate haredim, so we fought with all our might to delay approval of the law."
Shas chairman Aryeh Deri: "Working in combination, past the summer session without damaging the ultra-Orthodox community in one of the most difficult governments which were here. But we must not be complacent and be on the alert."
MK Yaakov Asher: "the insistence of the ultra-Orthodox discriminate Lapid's VAT law which puts all his weight, hit the prestige and political status serious injury will not soon recover from. It was definitely successful interception".
MK Menachem Eliezer Moses said: "In a stubborn struggle, without compromise, we succeeded despite being in opposition, to stop the brutal use of government power in the coalition against the ultra-Orthodox community and perpetuating oppression against."
MK Eichler response to the collapse of the Lapid law: "We must not allow Lapid and its partners, to continue the excavation of tunnels designed to crush the ultra-Orthodox Judaism as an economic weapon. They take taxes from the ultra-Orthodox community and with this money they prevent homeless young couples."
"Disgrace to the country while millions of Jews are bombarded with rockets and soldiers are killed in Gaza, the government continues to destroy the houses. The cost of the war will not allow the discount anyway, and the law will only strengthen Yesh Atid in post-war elections in Gaza.
