Mashgiach attacked in Turkey - all his friends returned to Israel

The Eideh Haredi decided to return to Israel all the supervisors in Turkey, after their supervisor was attacked at the Istanbul airport.

The incident occurred earlier this week at the airport in Istanbul, when a group of Arabs noticed a Badatz supervisor waiting for his flight which was supposed to leave a few hours later. A gathering began to increase around the supervisor, when the Arabs surrounding him overseer shouting jeers and insults.

Representative of Turkish Airlines official, Turkish Airlines, rescued the supervisor with his baggage and smuggled him out to a relatively secure compound behind the counters where he stayed until the flight.

Accordingly, the Kashrus department of the Eideh Haredi decided not to take unnecessary risks in view of the directive of rabbis not to endanger the supervisors and place them in places where there is danger to their safety.

The Kashrus Committee returned the supervisors stationed in many factories in Turkey to Israel and cancelled a planned trip of supervisors who were supposed to leave.

The decision has a broad economic significance for the absence of supervision which will force companies and organizations that produce or are producing food for Turkey - and there are many such - to cancel the production and transfer them to other factories.

Indeed, the Eideh reported yesterday that the requests came from manufacturers and importers who wanted to delay the decision, but requests were turned down and, as stated, due to the central consideration the safety of the supervisor who sees overwhelming interest and second to none.
