Six out of ten Haredi Jews in Brooklyn who were arrested two weeks ago, as part of an extortion and abuse affair of get objectors - were released on bail on Friday to house arrest. Other detainees have yet managed to raised the bail of between five million and five hundred thousand dollars.

As recalled, the affair began with the raid conducted by the FBI on the home of two rabbis in Monsey and New York, during which they were arrested. After an investigation eight other Orthodox Jews were arrested on suspicion of abusing and blackmailing divorce recalcitrant husbands.

One husband, who was beaten viciously by agents of rabbinical advocates in Flatbush and Monsey complained about it. Following the complaint, the FBI sent a pair of agents posing as a woman who was denied a divorce and a friend. They documented the course of events, talked to executors and recorded the legendary amount required to pay for the divorce.

Police arrested the rabbis and eight of their agents for a whole week, and refused to release them on bail. Only last Thursday, the rabbis were released to house arrest including an electronic handcuff at a high bail, one for five million dollars in real estate, and the other for a bail of a million and a half dollars in real estate.

On Friday four more suspects were released, and were also forced to deposit high guarantee fees of a million dollars and of five hundred thousand dollars, and the same amount for two others.

On Friday the Crown Heights community managed to raise the bail for the Dayan Rabbi Shlomo Shohat, a local resident who served as a witness at the time of the divorce and did not know who and what it relates to. A group of local businessmen established fundraising for him last Shabbos at sixty synagogues - for family and court costs, and many arrived at his home on Shabbos - where he was electronically handcuffed – to encourage him.
