Following the fall of the Sefer Torah: Erloy chassidim fasting

All Erloy chassidim are fasting (Monday) in light of the Rebbe's request following the fall of the Sefer Torah on Simchat Torah during hakafot.

The gabbai who took out the Sefer Torah to honor one of the members during the hakafot, did not notice that another Sefer Torah was lying on the one being removed, and to the shock of the congregation, the Sefer Torah fell and shook the very foundations.

Rebbe, who was anxious and disturbed by the fall, stated that the first day of bh"b, according to the Ashkenazic custom – which chassidim go by – will be a fast day as determined, in addition to selichot.

At the request of the Rebbe, all chassidim, starting from a boy of thirteen to the elderly, all those who have strength within Erloy are asked to fast the day following the sad incident. Only teachers of schoolchildren, who are unable to fast because of fear of harm in learning, may exempt themselves from fasting.
This morning selichot was held at the Rebbe's fixed minyan. In all chassidic concentrations selichot was recited, and in the evening minyans will be held at all shuls for mincha and veyachel as is customary during a public fast.

Ohel Shimon Yeshiva Hall in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem, the Rebbe's eldest son will speak and call upon the congregation to strengthen in yiras shamayim, chassidus and middos.
