Attempted stabbing took place tonight (Sunday) on a 128 bus line of the Ellit company, from Beit Shemesh to Beitar Illit, whilst the bus was driving on route 375 near the Beitar checkpoint, northwest of Betar Illit .

Jerusalem police said that a Palestinian traveling in a bus from Beit Shemesh to Beitar Illit , asked the driver to open the door not at the station - and the driver refused.

In response to that the Palestinian pulled out a knife and threatened the driver, who immediately stopped the bus and opened the doors. Palestinian got off the bus and fled.

"I went out to a case of terrorist attack from Beitar. Between Tzur Hadassah and the checkpoint I saw a bus standing on the side and all the passengers on the sidewalk," said a Hatzalah volunteer. "The driver told me that on Kishon River Street in Beit Shemesh a young Arab man boarded the bus and in question to the driver said he needed to get to Beitar.

"At some point during the trip, the Arab - who settled in the back of the bus - demanded to get down, and apparently the driver didn’t hear. He started to move toward the driver drew a knife, whilst cutting the peyos of an avrech on the bus, went to the driver, he noticed a knife - and immediately stopped and opened the door. "

The avrech whose peyos were cut, serves as a Magid Shiur in Beit Shemesh .

Arab assailant fled to Wadi Pukin, and IDF forces in cooperation with the SJ District Police combed the area, using assisted flares and a helicopter.
