If I don’t make it to the shiur - look for a newspaper obituary

Baruch Dayan haemes: on Friday Rabbi Yaakov Bornstein Rosh Yeshiva of Zhvill in Jerusalem passed away at age 76 after suffering from illness.

The deceased was born in Hungary on 24th Elul תרצ"ז to his father Reb Mordechei zt"l.

During his lifetime he served as one of the Roshei Yeshiva of Itri Yeshiva - where he educated many. Over the years, he was appointed as the head of Zhvill yeshiva, where he taught Torah for decades alongside Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Silber, and in addition was baal tefilla on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

Yeshiva students say that even on snowy days – he was always devoted to give the shiur, and even said once to his students: "If you see that I do not come to yeshiva- look for an "obituary".

He invested hours in preparing the lesson, as he writes in his notebooks and from these innovations would give the lessons.

He is survived by an honest blessed generation: three sons and one daughter.

The funeral left on Friday from Midrash Shmuel Hall in Kiryat Mattersdorf Jerusalem to Har Hamenuchos - where he was buried before Shabbos.
