Rare Upsherin: 13 year old meter long pony tail

A rare sight took place today (Wednesday) at noon at the home of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky on Rashbam Street in Bnei Brak: a Baal Teshuva came with a request - that the Rabbi should cut his hair , but not just any 'Upsherin', but a pony tail he grew for 13 years and was a meter long.

Hgr"ch responded immediately, and asked his family for scissors, cutting the man's hair to the cries of 'Mazel Tov' of those present. Then, Hgr"ch asked him to have a haircut and leave only peyos.

The 30 year old Baal Teshuva left excited, after he received Hgr"ch's blessing.

Meanwhile, last night was the wedding of the great-granddaughter to both Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky and Hgray"l Steinman, a grabddaughter to the Rosh Yeshiva of Kehilas Yaakov. The wedding took place at the Wagshal halls in Bnei Brak. Hgray"l served as mesader kiddushin and Hgr"ch made the last bracha.
