Baruch Dayan Haemes : heavy mourning in all communities of Judaism in Israel and abroad , after learning about the death of the President of the Council of Torah Sages , the Rishon Lezion Rabbi Ovadia Yosef ztvk"l author of the Yebiah Omer , and dozens of books, and the spiritual leader of hundreds of thousands of Jews all over the world.
Harav Ovadia Yosef was evacuated on Sunday, the third day of Sukkot Chol Hamoed to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem, after the severe deterioration of his health.
Throughout the hospitalization his condition deteriorated and after pacemaker implantation and dialysis for his kidneys, he was sedated and on a respirator. People of Israel prayed for his recovery and the joy of Sukkot was disabled.
Today the situation quickly deteriorated and after the collapse of systems Harav Ovadia returned his soul to its Creator, at age 93, to the desperate cry of his students and his family who was at his bedside and tore their clothes as is the Jeish law for student on his mentor and a son for his father.
When news of his death became known heavy mourning came down on all levels of society, with many from all circles and communities sharing the pain.
In Hgr"o's Beit Midrash in the Har Nof neighborhood in Jerusalem - where he taught Torah in recent years - the curtain was removed and candles were lit , so in the Hizdim synagogue in the Bukharan Quarter and Torah institutions under Harav Ovadia 's presidency .
The funeral procession will leave from Porat Yosef Yeshiva in Jerusalem's Geula neighborhood to the Sanhedriya cemetery, where he will be buried alongside his wife Rebbetzin Margalit Yosef a"h.
Tens of thousands are expected to attend the funeral and a special front command was established by the police, the municipality of Jerusalem, and MDA and rescue organizations to prepare for a funeral procession.
Jerusalem police reported that the roads will be closed to funeral and heavy traffic will be recorded around the hinges where the funeral will take place.
