"If it were you son would you expel him?"

Hgray"l Steinman spoke out this week against the phenomenon of expelling yeshiva students, at a conference of yeshiva ketana Roshei Yeshiva.

The Rosh Yeshivas must know that we are talking about souls and not objects. We must guard them. Everyone must know this.

The Hgray"l added: "I never in my life expelled a yeshiva student! One who expels a student and then he is out on the street, he will be asked after 120 why this boy was on the street? What will he say, that he did this that and the other. The will tell him: If it were your son would you have expelled him?! One needs to think what if this were my son.

"For every boy one needs to ask a Talmid Chacham"

Later on Hgray"l was asked how to make the bys enjoy their learning.

Hgray"l told of the Chazon Ish that once told a man, that if he would enjoy the learning then the boys would too, but since he doesn’t then the boys also don’t.

The Rosh yeshiva was also asked: Does one need to expel a student who is busy with the internet?

Hgray"l answered that for every boy one needs to ask a Talmid Chacham.
