Report: Iranian cyber warfare commander assassinated

Commander of the Revolutionary Guards cyber warfare was shot to death, as reported by the British newspaper "The Telegraph".

Mojtava Ahmadi, who served as Chief of Staff, was found dead in a wooded area near the town Karaj, north - west of the capital Tehran. According to the report, Ahmadi was last seen leaving his home on Saturday. He shot with two bullets to his heart.

Chief of the local police station said that two people who were riding on a motorcycle were involved in the assassination. The Facebook page of the cyber warfare staff officers confirmed that Ahmadi is one of their commander and put consolations on the wall of the page.

According to a statement by cyber warfare headquarters of the Revolutionary Guards, the Ahmadi's circumstances of death are investigated. The staff cautioned against drawing any hasty conclusions about those responsible for the assassination. The Telegraph reported that Western officials said it is too early to analyze the meaning of Ahmadi's death, but noted that such assassinations were a hard blow in the past to Iranian security forces.
