Satmar Rebbe told his followers before the rain prayer - to help in the campaign against the Israeli government in the American press

Before the prayer for rain Satmar: fundraising for campaign finance

An unexpected occurrence this year in Williamsburg, during Tefillas Geshem, when the Rebbe – who serves as Shat"z - was standing next to the box while wearing Kittel, ready to begin the wording and known tone. Suddenly the Rebbe turned and asked his gabbai, Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Fisher ti urgently summon Rabbi Naftali Hertzke Zwibel, Rosh Kollel and one of the members of the Chomosoyich Yerushalaim committee of Satmar.

The gabbai rushed to summon Zwibel, and when the latter came before the Rebbe, turned to him and told him that since he learned that the Israeli prime minister - the infidel government – is getting ready to go to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, and he expects to be welcomed with glory of kings by American Jews and the general population, one must greet him, 'properly'.

"You cannot let him arrive and get the royal treatment," the Rebbe explained, "when he plans the terrible decree on the people of Zion, i.e. the recruitment decree on yeshiva students. So I would like to publish on Monday - the day Netanyahu's feet set foot on American soil - in all major U.S. newspapers including The New York Times, the Washington Post, and more, a huge protest will be spread over an entire page, which will be written on pain of Orthodox Judaism due to the terrible religious persecution, the Netanyahu government. "

Rebbe stressed that these reports involve an estimated cost of $ 50,000, and must enlist the public side to donate for this matter, and he asked Rabbi Zwibel to get up on stage and explain to the public the necessity of the application process and finance campaign.

Rabbi Zwibel, of course, did as he was told, and for seven minutes - before the rain prayer and in the presence of thousands, explained to the public the duty to protest and press advertising purpose.

And the public responded: Already yesterday, the activists sat at the Satmar beit midrash and raised money to finance public expenditure. Each was asked to not less than twenty dollars for the cause. It remains to be seen whether the protest will achieve its objectives.
