"Reshoim. Dogs who want to crush Judaism"

The Belzer Rebbe made a particularly sharp speech against the Israeli government, at the customary Shteidige Torah event – the 'Tish' after Simchas Torah, in the presence of thousands of Hassidim.

The Rebbe opened his remarks with these words: "I want to say something important, and I want those who live overseas to hear as well. There are Rabbis who have claimed that it is forbidden to take money from the state as they will intervene in matters of our chinuch, but my uncle z"l (the Mahar"a of Belz, M.W.) said we should take - because it's our money."

Here the Rebbe moved to a sharp expression against government ministers who are partners to the brutal cuts: "They are wicked. Dogs who want to eat up and trample Judaism.

"I ask for the help of foreign donations to the Torah world, everyone can go up to the askonim and hear from them how difficult the situation is," he finished.

The Rebbe's words follow the campaign he initiated against cuts in the Torah world, in which signs were hung up on Hassidim's balconies, which read: 'Torah is our life', and a continuation of the 'Fund for maintenance of Torah', which was initiated by the Rebbe.
