A 70 year old man fell from a tree on Cassuto Street in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem - and lost consciousness.

Volunteer medics of Ichud Hatzala along with Magen David Adom crews gave him first aid, and he was taken in a serious condition to the hospital.

Micky Cohen, head of the Jerusalem Branch of Ichud Hatzala, said: "The paramedics of the motorbike unit of the organization who arrived first on the scene encountered a man who had fallen from a palm tree and lost consciousness. The man was injured in the upper body. Apparently he had climbed the tree to cut branches for Succos. Following initial treatment we gave him on the scene, the man was evacuated with his condition defined harsh, to continue receiving medical treatment in the hospital."

Cohen goes on to say: "I would like to warn those involved in the preparations for Sukkot to make sure to be careful and be safe. Unfortunately this evening ended with serious injury and unfortunately in Jerusalem in previous years too a number of cases arose from uncareful preparations for the holiday."

Emergency paramedic of MDA, Nathanel Azoulay, who was the first on the scene, says: "We were alarmed to a man who fell from a height. When I arrived I saw in the garden of a residential building a 70 year old man as he lay unconscious and to his side were branches which were trimmed. People who were there told us that he apparently fell from a ladder at a height of about 3 meters as he climbed the ladder to cut branches for schach.

"He was lying on the ground unconscious with a head injury and had difficulty in breathing. We immediately began to give him medical treatment and resuscitate him. Meanwhile an Intensive Care Unit arrived, led by paramedic David Dalfen. Paramedics medics gave him advanced medical treatment and took him to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in a serious condition."

Moderate injury in Tifrah

On Rambam St. in Tifrach in the Negev, a young man fell from a ladder while building a sukkah.

Doctor and volunteer paramedics of Ichud Hatzala of the Negev branch gave him first aid after he was hurt in the head.

The youngster was taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba with his condition defined as medium and with vague recognition.

United Hatzalah again warn those involved in the preparations for Sukkot to be careful and follow the safety rules for fear of injuries and disasters.
