Ofakim haredi community activist killed in an accident

Accident - hard head-on collision occurred on Route 38, near the intersection of Givat Yeshayahu (Tzafririm): Haredi man about 60 years old, well-known Orthodox activist from Ofakim, and a woman of about 48 - were killed.

MDA teams and Hatzalah union were called following reports of two vehicles which collided. A doctor determined the deaths of two drivers.

Hatzalah spokesman said: "it was an accident with the involvement of a jeep and a private vehicle, vehicle driver and jeep driver were killed, brigade forces were extracting the bodies from the vehicles, and the Haztalah doctor determined the deaths due to fatality, due to the nature of the difficult accident."

MDA spokesman, Zaki Heller, said: "Paramedics and the Magen David Adom paramedics arrived at the scene reported severe frontal accident between two private vehicles in which were trapped one car driver and the other driver who were killed in their cars at the scene. Right now they are being extracted from the vehicles and MDA paramedics are determining the death of a man and a woman."

Emergency medicine MDA, Aviad Lichtman, says: "When we arrived at the scene we saw a difficult frontal accident, two drivers stuck in their cars, we tried to get them to give them medical care, but cars were crushed and access to them was difficult. Assistance and firefighters rescued a driver, a man of about 60, and from the second woman of about 48, they were rescued when they are unconscious, not breathing and without a pulse and multi-system injury,

"We tried to see if we can save them, the injuries were serious, and unfortunately they showed no signs of life and we had to determine their death.

Superintendent Moshe Cohen, head of the accident investigation agency Bat said in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim that "preliminary investigation revealed that shortly before 12:00 a car traveled on Highway 38 to the General Givat Yeshayahu. During the trip the private car crashed into frontal commercial vehicle. Driver of the private vehicle and the van driver were killed. The real reason swerved with the car is still unclear, and it is being investigated."

"We ask the public drivers, to give consideration to safe driving, including illegal speeding, do not tamper with the phones, devices and computerized systems in the vehicle which leads to distractions and can lead to disaster."
