Harav Ovadia Yosef was born in Baghdad and at the age of four his family immigrated to Israel. From his early childhood he stood out in his studies and his first first Torah works were written when he was 9 years old, the margins of the book "The Beginning of Wisdom (ראשית חכמה)."
