Minister of Economy, Naftali Bennett, issued a directive permitting employers to be half an hour late to work for Shachris, a time which will be complimented at the end of the working day.

The instruction was published with the delay in the date of transition to winter time, and is intended to allow employees who daven Shachris, to be late by half an hour to work, provided they stay at work that day or another day that month, as determined by the employer.

"This is an important solution for the public who daven, who get up early for their daily work. The proposed permit offers an appropriate solution, which balances between the needs of workers who keep the tradition, and the needs of employers, whose activity is not supposed to be harmed as a result of the delay at the time of sunrise at certain times of the year," said Bennett. "A definite need was created here that justifies an exception in the Hours of Work and Rest Law, and I'm glad the law allows this flexibility and gives me the authority to allow proper Jewish prayer, especially these days of reflection and prayer."

Following the law which postponed the change from daylight saving time to winter time, a situation was created in which particularly towards October, sunrise occurs after 6:30 and sometimes at 6:55, which would make it difficult to daven Shachris before work, and subsequently the new directive was published.
