Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak defeat in the Supreme Court

Judge Zvi Zilbertal from the Supreme Court denied the application to appeal from the judgment of the District Court which determined that the communication must pay Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak compensation in the amount of NIS 9,000

Rabbi Amnon Yitzxhak, spoke at a conference held on repentance on 8th Nissan תשס"ח at the Culture Hall in Modiin. A journalist covered the event. Following she published an article about the event. Article noted that at the beginning of the event the crowd viewed a video on "Herzl and Zionism" and that in this film seeks to compare Theodor Herzl to Hitler the Nazi enemy, saying: "The two criminals were in Jewish history: Hitler and Herzl. Hitler wanted to destroy the body of the Jewish people. Herzl wanted to kill the soul which is much more important than the body.

Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak filed a libel suit. The claim alleges that the film was screened during the event "come again," and the film "Herzl and Zionism" as noted in the article, and in any case not said the things attributed to him in the story regarding the comparison between Herzl and Hitler. Rabbi petitioned for compensation in the amount of NIS 100,000.

Magistrate's Court accepted the case and ruled in favor of the rabbi full compensation amount. However, the district court reduced the amount of compensation to the amount of NIS 9,000, for him being a public figure, to be more cautious in his words incase his intention to be understood that such recklessness may affect the determination of the amount of compensation, but this is not to say that the Court has created "required "notice.

The judge added that the court had shown, Shofar produced the film "Herzl and Zionism," which included false and shocking comparison between Herzl and Hitler, and his portrait also appears on the cover of the film cassette. Supposedly, if the applicant objected things would change this situation.
