Baruch Dayan Haemes: Today Hrh"ch Reb Chaim Man zt"l, a proponent of Breslev in Safed passed away at the Asaf Harofeh hospital, at the age of 69.
Yesterday (Sunday) evening when returning from Uman where he spent Rosh Hashanah, he lost consciousness at the Ben Gurion Airport. Medical staff of the Ben Gurion airport immediately began to treat him and perform CPR, and later was joined by members of the ICU team Magen David Adom. Following successful resuscitation he was evacuated on a respirator in an inconsistent state to hospital where he returned his soul to its Creator.
He was born in Jerusalem on 28th Iyar תש"ד to his father Rabbi Pesach Man from Elkana Street in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Man was from one of the greatest hidden tzaddikim in our generation, a man who hosted each week hundreds of people for Shabbos meals. In times of greatest pressure in terms of the number of people who he hosted in his house, he was completely relaxed.
Thousands of yeshiva students spent Shabbos with him. There is no yeshiva bochur who spent Shabbos in Safed and wasn’t hosted at Chaim Man. He welcomed each and everyone warmly and gave food and drink to everyone.
His home was open to all like Avraham Aveinu. Many nicknamed him 'the Avraham Aveinu of Safed'.
He never asked any guest to what community he belongs to. For him it was enough that he was part of Am Yisrael.
Safed mourns for the great man who was taken from them by complete surprise.
The funeral will leave today (Monday) at 14:00 from the Breslev shul in the old city of Safed towards the cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
The public is asked to learn for the soul of Reb Chaim ben Pesach.
