Daven • Hag"r Ovadia Yosef urgently evacuated and hospitalized in Hadassah: "conscious and not on respirator"

Shortly after 23:00 Hagaon R' Ovadia Yosef was taken by mobile intensive care unit to the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital, after his condition deteriorated .

This morning the President of the Council of Sages was admitted to the hospital, where he received treatment and underwent tests and was released this afternoon in a stable condition, and after family members received orders to continue treatment at home. The Rabbi's room was recently equipped with the latest medical equipment of the first class.

But the aches and pains that accompany the Rav in recent days, and which culminated on Shabbos, did not cease for a moment. But doctors repeatedly claimed that it will take time until the antibiotics given to him would do its work.

In the evening hours the condition of the Rav deteriorated, and he was rushed to the hospital.

MDA spokesman, Zaki Heller said in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim, "At 23:00 MDA received a call from Harav Ovadia's home, the Rav was not feeling well. MICU was alerted. The team examined the medical condition of the Rav, and by the recommendation of the doctor he was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital. The Rav is conscious and in a stable condition."

Spokeswoman for Hadassah said: "Harav Ovadia Yosef arrived these minutes to Hadassah Ein Karem, after his personal doctor, Prof. Yohanan Shtessman, examined him at home - and in consultation with doctors at Hadassah decided to hospitalize the Rav".

Later she announced: "Harav Ovadia Yosef was admitted to the internal intensive care unit tonight for antibiotic treatment due to an infection from which he suffers. The Rav is fully conscious and is not on a respirator."

The Council of Torah Sages calls the general public in Israel and the Diaspora, "To entreat in prayer and tear the gates of heaven open for the recovery of Maran President of the Council of Torah Sages Harav Ovadia Yosef and the Almighty will not despise the prayers of many."

At the Western Wall, where the former Rishon Letzion, Hagr"s Amar, arrived to attend prayers, a tefillas rabim began at midnight. In yeshivos too many gathered for prayer for his recovery.

A tefilla and Selichot rally is also taking place at the Hall of Yeshivat Porat Yosef in Geula and the Beit Midrash Yechave Da'at, attended by Gedolei Torah. Also a tefillas rabim is being held in the old Yeshivat Porat Yosef, Yeshivat Chazon Ovadia , and at the tomb of R' Shimon bar Yohai in Meron.

With the arrival of news of the hospitalization, R' Aharon Leib Steinman closed his book and began reciting Tehillim for the recovery of R' Ovadia. Also Hgr"s Vosner, along with Rebbes and Gedolei Torah, started reciting Tehillim.
