Syrian media celebrates the withdrawal of Obama from attack against Assad: The paper "A - T'varh", considered the journal of the Assad regime, called Obama's decision "historic retreat."

According to the newspaper, Obama worried about the possibility of a U.S. attack against Syria will become an open war, and therefore chose not to go out without the backing of Congress. Newspaper even hinted that Britain's decision not to join the United States, and wrote "Obama's withdrawal is due to a sensation of defeat and his allies' disappearance".

Another Syrian newspaper identified with the regime, announced today the headline: "Syria is ready, Obama retreated." Syrian government press tried to portray that Assad army was prepared to attack the U.S., even if it decided to operate immediately.

On the other hand, the opposition in the country is disappointed by Obama's decision and called him "weak and ineffectual".

A senior in the rebel forces said: "We had a sense of disappointment since we expected things to happen more quickly. Military attack in Syria must happen very soon." However, he expressed his hope that eventually they will attack: "We believe the Congress in the United States will approve it and it will set off."

U.S. Rabbis to Obama: "How can we trust you on Iran?"

Obama's decision led to disappointment among Jewish rabbis, members of the Democratic Party. Hours before announcing its decision to delay the attack Syria, U.S. President Barack Obama updates 1000 rabbis - Democratic Party members, mostly Reform and Conservative – in a conference call, after which wished them "a good and sweet new year."

The rabbis were asked to keep the conversation to themselves, but it included an update on the situation in Syria. The President explained to them why he was not in a hurry to attack the Assad regime for its use of chemical weapons against civilians.

Some rabbis presented Obama with questions. One of them referred to Iran, one of the rabbis asked with a hint of provocative: "If you do not operate in Syria, how can we trust you on the Iranian nuclear program?"

The President replied that he was aware that inaction would cause the Iranians to come to conclusions about the seriousness of the U.S.

In response to another question Obama extended on the deep connection and non-breakable alliance between US-Israel. "We have shared values, such as social justice. This week we noted 50 years since the famous speech of Martin Luther King (I Have a Dream) and we remember how Jewish leaders were marched alongside King and black leaders in the famous march in Washington, during which they delivered the speech that changed American history."

The President also answered questions about the U.S. position in negotiations of Israeli - Palestinian and American which faces several issues, such as health care reform which is about to enter into force at the end of the year. Finally he talked about the political and economic challenges faced by the United States, and expressed confidence that American Jews are an important and significant re-stabilization of the U.S. after the crises experienced in recent years.

The conversation ended with the blessing for the New Year and happy holidays, which Obama sought to deliver from him and his wife Michelle to for their communities. "Sweet, happy and healthy new year", Obama wished, who revealed proficiency on the High Holidays and Jewish customs - summary of the past year and a renewed commitment to the fundamental values of the Jews.
