Chabad Roshei Yeshiva published a letter forLubavitch Hasidim to be careful not to send their children to the army, but to continue to learn at the yeshiva. The reason for writing the letter at this time actually is an event held this week in Kfar Chabad, which yeshiva students were invited to meet with representatives of the Israel Defense Forces responsible for the orthodox stream. The meeting failed and only about 15 boys showed up.

Behind the meeting is a signed agreement with the IDF and Lubavitchers two years ago. According to tradition, at the chassidus, every year graduates of Shiur dalet leave the yeshiva to the yeshiva of the Rebbe of Lubavitch in Brooklyn. According to the agreement, the boys will be given a two-year exit permit from Israel, and then they undertake to return to Israel, but will continue to receive delay until after their wedding.
The meeting in question takes place following the end of the first two years. According to sources involved, the IDF wanted to see that, indeed, the boys returned to Israel and to update them on the expected recruiting trails for the Orthodox, although recruiting duty is not yet applied. "There was no intention to recruit them now," say the initiators of the meeting. "On the contrary, thanks to this agreement of Chabad yeshivas they are the only ones from the Haredi community who can be calm."

However, it turns out that the meeting took place without first receiving the opinion of the Roshei Yeshiva, and those published a clarification.
