Rabbi started screaming and chased the robbers

Rabbi of a synagogue in Far Rockaway was attacked by robbers on the steps of the synagogue.

The incident occurred on Sunday at 9:30 pm, when Rabbi Foyer, Rabbi of Kehilat Israel rushed to evening prayers in the synagogue of the Agudat Yisrael in the neighborhood.

As he climbs the stairs of the synagogue the rabbi was attacked from behind by two young men as one of them put a gun to his neck.

They demanded his wallet and his mobile phone. Rabbi did not lose his senses and began shouting for help. The two young men were frightened and fled.
Worshipers who heard the screams alerted the Shomrim, who came to the scene. After the Rabbi gave them a description they rushed to chase the bandits but they managed to escape.

"There is a ribbon of security camera which documented the incident," said the organization, "and the police is now trying to decipher the identity of the perpetrators. We will do everything to find the criminals before the holidays, to allow hundreds of worshipers to attend synagogue, to come and go safely without fear."

Rabbi Foyer confirmed the incident but refused to be interviewed: "The case took place but I do not want to talk about it," he said.
