Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will be released today (Wednesday) from arrest. The court in Tora prison in Cairo decided after noon after they convened to discuss the release petition of the deposed president.
Already yesterday the Court acquitted Mubarak in one of two cases of corruption in which the accused and his lawyer requested additional credit portfolio and release from prison.
Mubarak was jailed two years ago for involvement in killing protesters in Tahrir Square during the protests that led to the end of his reign.
"There is no other reason to keep him in custody," the judges said in their ruling.
Mubarak's lawyer, Farid Al - Deeb, told Reuters, as he left the prison debate: "The court decided to release him."
The trial will resume on Sunday for a replay of President killing the old man on charges of involvement in hundreds of protesters during the revolution that toppled him from his chair. Because Mubarak has already reached the maximum prison term allowable before the court in this case too, he is not likely to be required to continue to stay in jail during trial, pending sentence.
