Egyptian security forces arrested tonight the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Badia, according to media reports in Egypt.

According to the report, Badia was arrested in an apartment in Cairo. The arrest was executed after receiving information about his location.

Badia, aged 70, is the 'general guide' of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt since 2010.

More than a week ago, Egyptian authorities announced that they will bring Badia and his deputy Hairat a-Shater, to trial for incitement to murder, which seemingly took place at angry demonstrations that accompanied the ousting of President Mohamed Morsi.

Arrest warrants were issued for Badia and Shater a day after the ousting of Morsi, claiming that they incited to violence in the big demonstration which took place on July 4. At least eight people were killed in the demonstration. The Cairo court announced that it will be prosecuted on August 25 along with his deputy.
